Green Networking for Major Components of Information Communication Technology Systems

The late David Brower [1], a noted environmentalist, stated “We don’t inherit the environment from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”. This is a very sobering comment. If the definition of sustainability is that we leave this planet to our children in a better state than we found it, then according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) [2] we are failing dismally. The major contributor to global warming and climate change is the dramatic increase in human greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere; the main greenhouse gas is Carbon Dioxide (CO2).
